Rates and Room Occupancy

General rack rates listed on the website are based upon double occupancy (2 persons per room). Additional charges may apply for more than two occupants in a room. The rate quoted online is based upon the number of individuals/information entered during the reservation process. Hotel Cape Charles relies upon the accuracy of this information during the booking process. RESERVATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION BY THE HOTEL, AND FORFEITURE OF DEPOSIT, if a party arrives with or is found to have more persons than listed in the reservation. We are unable to lodge guests under 21 years of age if not accompanied in room by a person 21 years of age or older.

Two-Night Minimum

For reservations involving a Friday or Saturday, rooms normally carry a two-night minimum stay requirement from mid-April through early November (three-night minimum for Labor Day and Fourth of July), but because reservation dates vary, single-night stays on weekend nights are sometimes possible and may be booked online if so.

Check-In:  3:00 p.m.

Early Check-In:  1:00 p.m. on a limited basis, for a flat fee of $50. Please contact Hotel to arrange.

Check-Out 11:00 a.m.

Deposit Policy

A deposit equal to 50% of the reservation room rate is required to guarantee a reservation. Deposits must be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). Credit cards are charged when the reservation is made. Any balance due for lodging is payable at check-in, and any incidental charges are payable at check-out. The Hotel does not accept cash or checks.

Cancellation Policy

For cancellations made fewer than 14 days from the arrival date, deposits are not refundable. THERE IS NO COVID EXCEPTION TO THE HOTEL CANCELLATION POLICY

For cancellations more than 14 days from the arrival date, deposits are returned, less a $50.00 cancellation fee.

Reservations are “rain or shine” and cannot be modified or commuted; if plans are weather dependent, it is best to make reservations only when certain of clear weather, so as not to risk cancellation fee or forfeiture of deposit.

Taxes and Fees

We are required to collect state and local taxes totaling 11%.

Dog-friendly rooms

Rooms 2, 3, 4, 21, and 22 are designated as dog-friendly, and it is permitted to lodge up to two dogs in these ground-level rooms. All reservations involving dogs must be approved by Hotel via email or phone; we are unable to lodge guardian/attack breeds. A $50.00 pet fee (per room/reservation) is charged. Any damage to the room will be charged to the credit card on file.

Smoke-Free Property/Damage to Rooms

Hotel Cape Charles is a smoke-free environment. We require that guests not smoke anywhere on the property, including all outdoor spaces. This includes electronic cigarettes in rooms. A $500 cleaning fee per room will be charged for rooms in which smoking has been detected. Burning incense, candles, or the like is also not permitted, and outdoor cooking is not permitted. A smoking area (with picnic table) is located just north of the hotel. Under no circumstances may room doors or balcony doors be propped open other than for moving luggage to/from the room. Damage to the rooms, or missing items, will be documented and charged to the credit card on file.
